I’m Steven Arnott and I’ve worked in Canada’s financial services industry since 2013. I’ve found that even though money is important, it’s often not covered in school or discussions with family and friends.

Therefore, in 2019 I published The Snowman’s Guide to Personal Finance, an intro to money management for Canadians.

In 2020, I founded Ripple Financial Planning to help more Canadians get the most from their money.

I help early to mid-career individuals and families to simplify their finances and achieve their goals.

I’d love to help answer your most pressing financial questions so you can live the life you want. Please schedule a free 30-minute consultation call to learn more.

Financial planner

I combine my analytical background with a deep understanding of psychology, taxation and the financial services industry to help you make decisions, take action and rest easy.

Too many people face the following challenges, often on their own:

  • Confusing financial products (e.g., insurance, investments, mortgage).

  • Countless options with fine print.

  • High and hidden fees.

  • Powerful emotions (e.g., anxiety, fear, guilt, pressure, regret).

This doesn’t have to be the case.

I offer informed and unbiased advice to help you get the most from your money. If you’re looking for peace of mind that you’re on track for your goals, I’m confident you’re in the right place.

I focus on three pillars when creating a financial plan.

Balance

Just as the waves of a ripple move in every direction, a financial plan should balance your behaviours, experiences, priorities and more to align your money with your life.

Growth

What starts as a small wave quickly grows across a body of water, representing the potential of compounding growth for your money and life.

Impact

From the first droplet to the water’s edge, a ripple impacts everything it passes. In the same way, your money is a tool that can impact all corners of your life.

I chose the name Ripple as I believe it represents these three pillars well.

You can learn more about my approach to personal finance through a Q&A I did with Kari from Money in Your Tea or a podcast with Tom from MapleMoney.

You can also follow my blog, The Snowman’s Guide, for an intro to personal finance.

As an advice-only financial planner, I don’t sell any products. I make recommendations that are in your best interest and work with you to follow through.
